Fervens
Submitted by peter on Tue, 03/03/2009 - 21:34
Fervens is fixed or fluid width with three columns you can set to one sidebar on each side, both sidebars on the left, or both sidebars on the right.
Download Fervens at drupal.org/project/fervens. This version is 6.x-2.5 from 2010-Apr-10, a 64.92 KB download.
Configuration
This theme includes the following layout options.
Layout type:
(*) Fixed width (940 pixels wide)
( ) Liquid width (Maximum 1280 pixels wide
Layout column type:
(*) Fervens A (Sidebar left, content, sidebar right)
( ) Fervens B (Sidebar left, sidebar right, content
( ) Fervens C (Content, sidebar left, sidebar rightThe limited width of the centre column in fixed width was annoying enough to change the default width to Liquid. You can see what the original narrow style looks like by shrinking the window width.
The CSS contains the following styles to handle fixed and fluid width.
body.fixed-width #page { width: 940px; }
body.liquid-width #page { max-width: 1280px; min-width: 940px; }The page head receives the following style to do something different if the Web browser is Internet Explorer below version 7.
<!--[if lte IE 7]>
body.liquid-width #page {
width: expression(document.body.clientWidth < 942? "940px" : document.body.clientWidth > 1282? "1280px" : "auto");
}Regions
The regions are Header, Wrapper top, Sidebar left, Content top, Content, Content bottom, Sidebar right, Wrapper bottom, and Footer.
Validation
The W3C and Total Validator agree this theme is XHTML 1.0 Strict. TV validates the theme as WCAG (WAI) A, AA, AAA, and US 508. WAVE did not detect accessibility errors.
Cynthia Says the theme misses on the following points.
9.4 Create a logical tab order through links, form controls, and objects.
* Rule: 9.4.1 - All Anchor, AREA, BUTTON, INPUT, OBJECT, SELECT and TEXTAREA elements are required to use the 'tabindex' attribute.
o Warning - One or more Anchor, AREA, BUTTON, INPUT, OBJECT, SELECT and TEXTAREA elements do not use the 'tabindex' attribute.
9.5 Provide keyboard shortcuts to important links (including those in client-side image maps), form controls, and groups of form controls.
* Rule: 9.5.1 - All Anchor, AREA, BUTTON, INPUT, LABEL, LEGEND, and TEXTAREA elements are required to use the 'accesskey' attribute.
o Warning - One or more Anchor, AREA, BUTTON, INPUT, LABEL, LEGEND, and TEXTAREA elements do not use the 'accesskey' attribute.
The W3C says the CSS is valid CSS 2.1 and validation as CSS 3 produces the following error.
